Message from the Superintendent

Hello MGSD Community!

The 2017 - 2018 school year is well underway and going great for our district!

First of all, on behalf of MGSD and our Board of Education, I want to thank our community for its constant support of our district. The MGSD team works hard to provide an excellent educational experience for our students. Without your support, we would not be able to effectively serve our community and children. We are truly blessed to have great teachers, staff, parents, and students in Mooresville, and it is reflected in the culture of family within our district. While public education continues to face challenges from multiple fronts, our team refuses to falter in doing right for all children, and that commitment to every child, every day remains strong.

As I reflect on my first year and a half as Superintendent of Mooresville Graded School District and what we have achieved, I am so proud of the hard work of our MGSD staff and students.  We have great work going on at every level in our district.  For example, Mooresville High School exceeded expected student academic growth, saw strong performance on its End-of-Course tests, and achieved an outstanding graduation rate - all in the midst of a major construction project.  Rocky River Elementary earned an A+ school performance grade which is outstanding.  These accomplishments demonstrate the uncompromising determination present in staff and students across our district.  I believe that MGSD is the best overall district in the state and am honored to be a part of the team that values its place in our community and takes seriously the responsibility that we have to it.

Again, thank you and we look forward to continuing our good work with you!

Warm regards,

Stephen Mauney
