Pledge of Allegiance
Three EMIS students were selected to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the April 10 board meeting. Joseph Bolash, 6th grade, Ciclali Gonzalez-Repreza, 6th grade, and Alex Amon, 4th grade, were chosen because they exemplify student leadership both in the classroom, as well as in their enhancement classes. The enhancement team nominated these students for the pride they take in their work, their kindness to others, and the leadership they model for their peers. We are very proud of these students!
Spotlight on People
The Spotlight was on the Mooresville High School Wrestling Team at the April board meeting. The 2017-2018 Mooresville High School Wrestling team compiled an overall team record of 23-3 this season.
The team won the South Caldwell Invitational, the Wrestle of the Cure Dual Team Tournament, the I-MECK conference tournament, the I-MECK regular season conference championship, the 4A West Regional championship, and the 4A Individual Team State Championship! And the team did this without one senior member of the team…so the future will continue to be bright for the Blue Devils.
Junior, Silas Shaw captured his second straight state title. He earned an 8-5 decision over Broughton’s Nash Philbeck in the 4A final at 145 pounds to finish the season 42-2.
Isaac Byers gave the Blue Devils another state title winner. He secured a 1-0 decision over Broughton’s Nic Valdespino in the 4A final at 138 pounds and finished the season 46-4.

She has worked tirelessly to help our 6th grade students with their Gateway Projects and has been an extraordinary teacher, mentor, and motivator to them. Not only has Cheryl been the leader in our Gateway Projects, she has also been a source of inspiration and positivity to our community here at EMIS. Cheryl always has a positive attitude, a kind heart, and a helping hand. She puts others first and is always there to see how she can support teachers and staff members. She leads by example and teaches our students to be kind, caring, and respectful. Our team and school would not be the same without her! Thank you Cheryl for all that you do!"
